The Margin Strategy and Investment Optimization team is at the forefront of ensuring financial efficiency in Microsoft’s global expansion efforts.
We are looking for a Finance Director – Capacity Strategy and Geo Expansion to lead portfolio-level decision-making for new data center investments. This role will be responsible for strategic partnerships, competitive intelligence, and investment analysis to ensure that Microsoft Cloud remains ahead of the competition. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of financial modeling, investment planning, and business strategy to support data-driven decisions.
As part of our leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping financial strategies, optimizing return on investment, and identifying opportunities to drive profitability in new markets. Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning and investment decision-making for Microsoft Cloud’s global expansion.
- Conduct financial modeling and profitability analysis for new data center investments.
- Evaluate the expected return, revenue potential, and competitive landscape of new markets.
- Partner with Business Development teams to drive strategic partnerships and deal profitability.
- Align data center investments across different regions, ensuring cost efficiency and revenue growth.
- Optimize Microsoft’s leverage over potential suppliers and infrastructure partnerships.
- Develop data-driven financial insights and present strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or Data Science.
- 10+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or corporate finance.
- OR Master’s degree with 8+ years of relevant finance experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in business development, investment strategy, or corporate finance.
- Strong ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights.
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional partnerships.
- Experience handling complex investment strategies and financial modeling.
- Strong leadership skills with a collaborative and results-oriented approach.
