Graduate Civil Engineer (Euston Project JV role: Assistant Project Manager – Utilities)


Job summary


The MDjv Utilities Team are undertaking the installation new utilities to allow the clearance of the footprint of HS2 Euston Station.

This will involve but not be limited to the installation of:

  • Thames Water mains
  • Thames Water sewers
  • Cadent gas pipes
  • LUL power supplies
  • UKPN duct banks
  • Various communication companies’ duct banks and chambers.

This will include both contestable and non-contestable works.


Become a key member of this team, reporting directly into the Project Manager / Senior Project in the MDjv Utilities Team assisting them with the delivery of the scheme.


Key Responsibilities

  • Consider Health, Safety, Welfare & Environmental issues with all activities undertaken.
  • Attend and contribute to regular meetings with both internally with MDjv as well as 3rd parties, taking minutes and recording actions.
  • Understand the works programme.
  • Have a technical understanding of issued for construction design documents.
  • Undertake site visits recording progress, quality and compliance, escalating issues if they arise.
  • Assist with recording the compliance in relation to the HS2 action for all design and construction activities.
  • Undertake discrete tasks for the Project Manager/Senior Project Manager, both delivering to an acceptable level and required timeframe. Must understand the relevance of these tasks to the wider scope of works.


Technical competencies

  • Having a good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals in administering and working under standard Construction Contracts.
  • Understanding of the design.
  • Experience of standard construction methodology.
  • Knowledge of surveying equipment, calibration requirements and basic use.
  • Understanding of the management of Temporary Works, use of Design Briefs and the role of the Temporary Works Designer and Temporary Works Coordinator.
  • Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer.

Qualifications, Certifications & Experience

  • Developing BEng Civil Engineering graduate
  • Working towards Membership of a relevant professional body at Member or Associate Member level.
