Role Overview

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) will own the platform’s technology strategy, architecture, and engineering delivery. Reporting to the CEO, the CTO will scale the platform for sustained growth, deepen AI-driven personalization, and ensure the reliability and security that merchants and shoppers depend on.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own technology strategy and architecture for the marketplace platform across web and mobile.
• Lead engineering, data, and infrastructure teams across Kuala Lumpur and regional hubs.
• Scale platform performance for high-traffic commerce events and sustained growth.
• Own the payments, logistics, and merchant-integration architecture across ASEAN markets.
• Drive AI adoption in search, recommendations, pricing, and fraud prevention.
• Ensure security, data privacy, and compliance across multiple ASEAN jurisdictions.
• Own developer experience, platform reliability, and engineering productivity.
• Manage technology budget, vendors, and build-versus-partner decisions.
• Build a talent brand that attracts top engineers across the region.

Requirements:

• 12+ years of engineering leadership in e-commerce, marketplaces, or high-traffic consumer platforms.
• Experience scaling platforms through major growth, including traffic, data, and organization.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and mobile-first product engineering.
• Familiarity with ASEAN payment and logistics ecosystems an advantage.
• Proven talent leadership in competitive regional markets.
• Degree in computer science or engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• English fluency; Bahasa Malaysia or other regional languages a plus.
